Figured Claro Walnut
(Juglans hindsii)

click on photo for multiple close-ups showing the figure from many angles

This is the largest board of any Walnut species we have ever had. It conjures up images of the fantastic one piece tables that George Nakashima used to make. Claro Walnut has a unique coloration and a lovely smooth texture. This is one board out of an entire log, and it, like all the others, is highly figured with not only broken curl but also two beautiful feather crotches (protected by a sealer). A one in a million board.

Green to partially air-dried.

Called by some woodworkers African Rosewood, Bubinga is a deep, lustrous, brownish-red color with a fine, darker striping. The figure makes the wood doubly beautiful. It is very hard and heavy and takes a glassy, smooth finish. This board would make an absolutely stunning table top. The outside of the log this was sawn from was covered in bumps and burls which produced an intricate pattern of swirls and bird’s-eyes on the face of the board.
If you want a huge table this board is a book-match to #W11782.

Buy the pair for $4800.00. Kiln-dried.
