variegated and colored, Black Limba is easy to work and finish.
This wood is found in the equatorial forests of West Africa. A
few select logs have a dark heart with black and brown variegations
that yield boards like the one pictured. Used for furniture and
furniture accessories, jewelry boxes, musical instruments, turned
objects, paneling, veneers, etc. Easy to work and takes a nice
polish. Kiln-dried.

heartwood is purplish to brownish-black with dark gray streaks giving
an overall impression of being black. Lustrous with an attractive inner
chatoyance. Very hard, heavy, close-grained, and virtually free from
pores. Slightly oily to the touch.
