Piassaba Palm Nuts This palm (Leopoldinia piassaba) also called the Chiqui-chiqui Palm, is native to Brazil, Columbia and Venezuela. The nuts, which are a source of vegetable ivory, are encased in a hard, botryoidal shell which itself takes a nice polish. These shells are mostly 1 1/8-1 ½” in diameter and are 2-3” long. The nuts are smaller and are loose in the shells. They have a fine delicate dark veining and are quite beautiful when turned or polished. $3.00 each, 10 for $25.00. ___________________________________________
