Briar Burl

Erica arborea

There are defects but the burls will yield material for tobacco pipes, inlays, jewelry pieces, turnery, etc. These were harvested in the last couple of years, were boiled in water to bring out more color and to help stabilize the burls and were then slowly air-dried. Since these come from a temperate region and have remnants of bark many countries will not allow their importation without an expensive pytosanitary or fumigation certificate. Check with us or your customs or agriculture department representative.
